It was such an honor to be one of the artists chosen by the
Las Vegas Protrait Project to create a tribute painting of 29 year old, James “Sonny” Melton, of Big Sandy, TN. He was one of the 58 victims in the Las Vegas mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival back on October 1, 2017.
I congratulate the Las Vegas Portrait Project for arranging all of this for the victim’s families. The unveiling was on October 1, 2018 at the Las Vegas Clark County Govt. Center where artists were able to meet with some of the families.
Heather Melton, his wife, is the most courageous woman for spreading love in his honor and setting up fundraisers for those in need. She has worked tirelessly, along with Sonny’s family to pass on his beautiful legacy.
